Mystic
Lolling on my side under the small cherry tree, i sheltered from the scorching sun. I wonder what's for dinner ... boar ... or perhaps, deer? I asked myself, yawning. I got up, shook out my fur and scratched myself against the rough wooden tree. I sniffed the ground, trying to pick up a scent. Boar, stag, deer, horse, zebra, snake, tiger, rabbit, hare, and lots more. Suddenly, a small rat scuttled past me. I leaped and stuffed it in my mouth in one single gulp, licking my lips.

He was about to seek shelter under one of them when a scent came to him, the smell of another wolf. He sighed and shook himself, knowing that he would need to keep moving, since he didn't want to get into any problems with this wolf. Drawing the scent of the wolf deeply into his nose again, Terrwyn filtered the smell, categorizing it, trying to determine who he was nearing, and if they would react adversely to his presence. Deciding to take a look in on whoever it was, he continued padding forward, staying downwind of the other wolf, until he came upon her. He could see the she-wolf pounce on something on the ground and blinked as he watched the brilliant white fur move. As the wolf devoured the rat that she had just caught, he stepped back into the shadows, not wanting to bother this female. His retreat was hindered, however, as he stepped on a branch, snapping it, and creating some big noise. Rather than hide, he stepped forward, acting as though he had been walking forward when it happened, "Hello." He wagged his tail slightly, making sure not to catch the female's eye. He could take her in a fight, but there was no reason to fight here, not today.

I spun around, snarling. Seeing the calm male wolf make no move on me, i composed myself, stretched up to my fool height and and licked my lips. "Hi. I'm Mystic" I sat down, curling my tail around my paws. I took in his handsome sable coat, golden eyes and muscly yet average build. I pricked my ears and tilted my head, getting used to his smell.

He shoved the feeling away, knowing that she couldn't have seen him, she had been too engrossed in her activities to actually notice his coming closer to her. He smiled slightly as he saw the female work to compose herself, standing there calmly, with only his waving tail moving as he watched her, trying to gauge her reaction. As she sat down, appearing to have calmed down, Terrwyn mirrored the move, curling his tail slightly around his body, but not tucking it around his paws. "Mystic." He mused on that for a moment, then ventured, "A beautiful name, and fitting." He smiled slightly, "My name is Terrwyn." He drew in the wolf's scent, thinking that there was something soothing there, in the cocktail of smells that described Mystic to his nose.

"Why, thank you, Terrwyn" I smiled slightly, copying his calm and cool composure. We sat in silence before i rolled over onto my side, and yowled. I sat up, thorn sticking out of my shoulder. I pulled it out with my teeth and yelped in agony. "Ow" I laughed.

all which is BEAUTIFUL AND NOBLEis the result of REASON AND CALCULATION - - - - - - - - - - TERRWYN Terrwyn stifled a brighter smile as the she-wolf read his compliment for what it was intended, "Truth needs no thanks." He was suddenly glad that he had stopped to talk to this wolf, because she seemed like a wonderful being to spend time with. He watched in amusement as the she-wolf rolled over to her side, seeming to portray that she was starting to feel at ease with him, because it didn't look like passive submission, not in the least. Especially not as she jumped up, yelping in pain. As Terrwyn tried to see what was the matter, he saw that Mystic had already twisted around to remove the thorn. Carefully keeping his posture nonthreatening, Terrwyn advanced, looking at the spot where she had been stuck, "You'll live." He licked the wound to clean it, then realized what he was doing and stepped back, sitting back down, surprised at his own breach of etiquette.

I stared at him, smiling. I went over and licked his muzzle, blushing. "If i'll live, then we might as well go a walk" I said, leading the way.

Terrwyn lowered his head as the she-wolf licked his muzzle, smiling slightly. As she moved off, he followed her, unsure of where they were going, but deciding that he really liked being with her, already. "If you feel up to it, alright."

I nodded, swaying my tail in happiness. "So ... up to the beach?" I asked, swinging towards the sea-air direction.

Terrwyn looked in the direction that the she-wolf indicated, "Why not?" He fel into step beside her, glancing over to her once in a while.

"So ... may i called you Terry?" I asked, following him and the gravel trail leading to the long, beautiful beach. "I have a cave at the beach ... maybe we can hang out there" I shrugged, glancing at Terrwyn.

Terrwyn set his jaw, "I suppose so, if you want to." He couldn't say no to this wolf, and it was only a name, after all. He looked over at Mystic, trying to read her expression, as she suggested they go to her cave at the beach, "That sounds nice, why not?" He slowed his steps, "Lead on!"

I led on in silence until we got to my big beachy cave. I brushed some sand away and lay down, pulling a screen of ferns aside to reveal a zebra foal. "Eat up" I smiled.

Terrwyn followed the lupine, smiling as he saw the cave. He looked around, then glanced back at Mystic's voice. He saw the zebra foal and smiled, "Thank you." He hadn't eaten for two days, which was about normal for him, but he would have had to hunt in a day or two. He padded over and bent his head, gripping the flesh with his teeth and tearing out a large chunk.

I devoured a leg, crunching the bones beneath my jaws. Suddenly, i went into heat. Blood started trickling down my leg and there was a glorious spring smell. I gulped. Blushing, i cleared my throat and ate on.

Terrwyn could sense the change in pheromones in the air almost immediately. He could feel his body responding, and tensed, forcing himself to lay there and continue tearing chunks of the rich meat. He didn't even know if Mystic wanted him in that manner. He clenched his jaw, focusing on the taste of the meat, the stripes on the ripped hide, anything except the smell and the feeling in the room.

"Sorry" I tried to smile, digging my claws into the ground. I focused on the half eaten kill, swallowing. My tail wagged and i rested my chin on my paws.

Terrwyn nodded at her apology, "Nothing you gals can control, right?" He rose, "I'll be back in a moment." With that, he walked out of the cave, into the fresh air, stretching out his stiff muscles. He shook out his fur, enjoying the break from the tension, then returned, feeling more in control. He lay at the edge of the cave, smiling slightly as he watched Mystic.

I had tried to wipe away the blood with the ferns and it had gone. I blew at the smell, trying to clear it.

Terrwyn let out a breath of air as he rested his head on his paws, shifting into a slightly more comfortable position. He would have to leave within the next few days, before they got into a situation that neither really wanted to have happen. At least, if that was what it was. Terrwyn thought about settling down and frowned slightly. While he liked Mystic already, he had no way of being sure of her feelings for him.
