"Maybe you should take the cubs a walk now, honey" I winced.

Kapu was too excited by the idea to notice that his mate was in pain. "Of course darling." he beamed, licking his mate and ushering the young cubs out of the den and into the pin needled ground.

The cubs clumsily chased each other and then Kapu heard something crashing through the woods--a bear. Kapu snarled and rushed forward, grabbing the cubs just at the huge grizzle broke through into the clearing. "AH!" He yelled, both cubs swinging from his mouth as the bear locked eyes with Kapu, frightened by the wolf and ready to fight.

Blade leaped onto the big honey coloured neck and tore through tendons and arteries, and then snapping bone. He stood on the dead animals body and looked at the family before him.

Kapu stood protectively over his cubs, his chest rising and falling in a panicked state. He locked eyes with Blade and nodded, "Thank you, I am in your dept." With the cubs still shelter under him, Kapu lowered himself as far as he could onto the ground, without smothering the cubs. Kapu never bowed to anyone, but to Blade, he would. The father knew he would never be able to repay his dept but perhaps Blade would fine a way to make use of him.

I stared at the cowering cubs under Kapu and widened my eyes.
"She looks exactly like her" I choked, staring at the spitting image of Rein.

Kapu pulled back slightly, allowing the full body of the cub to be seen. He flashed a proud smile, he and Rein had created two beautiful and healthy cubs.

I swallowed with difficulty and then stepped back.
The image of Rein (hazel) was toddling towards me, yowling.
She found my leg and cuddled in and looked up at me with barely opened, startling blue eyes.
I saw my own glowing eyes reflected back.
The other cub cowered under Kapu but this little one was exactly like Rein.
Bold and enticing.

Kapu was stiff as he watched his daughter walk up to Blade and saw the look in had in his eyes for her. Kapu lowered his head further, feeling as if he was no longer dominate--not even on his own turf.

Images of my and Rein's past relationship filled my head and thoughts ...
This could have been your child ...
"She's beautiful. Your a very lucky wolf, Kapu. And you better treat your family right. Or else next time it wont be the bear trying to kill you" I turned my head to Kapu, eyes fixing on his, boring him down.

Kapu lowered his head in a submissive way, nodding slowly towards him. "My family is my life, sir." He said quietly.
